Global Bubble Parade
We are excited to be a part of the Global Bubble Parade for the second year in a row! If you are in or around the Charlotte, NC area, we would love for you and your family to join us on Sunday, May 6th at 1:00pm as we parade around the lake at Freedom Park. We will meet at the TreesCharlotte Monument (shown in red on this map, just up and to the left of the pavilion seating if you are looking at the stage), starting at 12:45pm. RSVP via our Facebook event page here and help us spread the word to your family and friends.
While this is a BYOB (bring your own bubbles) event, we will have some of our Bubble World bottles to give away on a first come, first served basis. Stick around after the parade and join us in Shelter #5 (in yellow on the map) for bubble themed arts and crafts – we’ll be doing some of the ideas we’ve presented on this blog. We will be there until 3pm.
Plus, Freedom Park is a lovely place to spend the afternoon. You can bring a picnic; play on one of the two playgrounds; enjoy the Panther’s NFL Play 60 KidZone; walk the nature trails; or bring sports equipment and take advantage of one of the many courts and fields.
So, what is the deal with the Global Bubble Parade anyhow? It sprung out of the #100happydays challenge movement from a few years ago and has had a great response around the world. As our own mission states, we want to spread happiness to the world, one bubble at a time. Thus, it makes us joining the fun and hosting in our home city of Charlotte a no-brainer!
But what are the benefits and how can you get involved? First, the parade is an outdoors event. This gets the kids fresh air, experiencing nature and away from screens, and most importantly, walking and exercising. Second, they get to experience and get involved in their local community. Participating is fun, and they will see how their joy spreads to others walking in the parade, as well as those who are there to witness it. And third, they can work on their social skills. Laughing and blowing bubbles with strangers will spark conversations and help with shyness, sharing, and caring. Not to mention, as we have highlighted in the past, blowing bubbles helps children with all sorts of important developmental milestones, such as, with motor skills, communication skills, cognition, and sensory skills.
Sounds like fun, right? And the best part is, it is all FREE! Cities across the globe will be holding these parades, which range from “flash mob style” to fully-formed parade routes. The one we are doing in Charlotte is more like the former. If you aren’t in Charlotte, you can search here to see if there is a bubble parade near you. Or, you can take charge and host one in your area. It’s easy and fun, just click here for more details. We hope you will all join us one way or another and spread happiness on May 6th with the Global Bubble Parade!
But remember, impromptu neighborhood parades will also make for great spring and summer activities as well as fun things to do for birthday parties. Kids can decorate signs and blow bubbles with family and friends any day of the week. So let’s get moving, spreading happiness, and blowing bubbles!
